New Features
▴ One-way platforms! While yes you can jump through the platform to get higher, it is also safe for you to press your down key to get back down.
It was very interesting learning to do this as it involved a component I had not yet heard of: Platform Effector 2D. Seems like it has some nifty features I should look more into. And while working on this, I had to figure out timers.
▴ Applied climbing possibilities to prototype building.
To get a better idea on the direction the game will take and how to traverse the world, I've applied the some of the current things the player can do to a building sprite. You can jump onto the roofs.
▴▴▴ At this point I was unable to work on the game for a week ▴▴▴
Just before my break the basic movement broke while I was working on adding a dialogue system. Yikes!
After coming back from my break, I spent 2 - 3 days chipping away, reconstructing, using old scripts with new scripts etc. to get my movement back. Major thing that needed recovery was the wall sliding mechanic, and luckily I got that to work by using the old script. And then slowly adding onto that script all the other things. It was a very tedious process with a lot of head scratching but I'm proud of myself for getting through it!
▴ I've started testing the height the player can jump, so I can better create a fitting world
▴ Slowly learning how to animate AND animate in Aseprite. The old pixel art making website I used does not have a good animating system unlike Aseprite, where you can have multiple animations in one document.
▴ You can now respawn after falling off the edge of the world.
▴ A very small addition which is a completely optional & more aesthetic detail is being able to walk. Once a nice world has been built up, being able to walk around & take a break from all the jumping, climbing & running is a nice chnage of pace.
▴ Currently working on dialogue system & trying to fix many things, including climbing poles & jumping. There's an issue that you sometimes can't jump!
